Quint 3 was placed in service in 2018, and Utility 3 in 2020. The quint serves double duty by carrying ladders and water at the same time, and the utility truck can carry extra personnel and equipment to/from a fire scene. As a result of the past two years of training and special certification courses, EPFC is now a rescue company. In 2023, we converted Engine 3 to Squad 3, meaning we have the tools necessary for rescue operations such as vehicle extrication.
Because we are continuing to grow our membership, it is time for the company to again add a piece of apparatus to the station. Because of the age of what is now Squad 3, and the current lead time on fire trucks, the company moved forward with the purchase of a new engine, which will be completed and placed in service in 2026. Because we will not be selling any apparatus as part of this purchase, we need to make up a funding deficit, and we need YOUR HELP.
