Frequently Asked Questions

You will first submit a membership application and will be contacted by our Membership Committee. Every Tuesday night, we have our own training nights where we work on different aspects of firefighting, and you will be welcomed to observe and get a feel for the company. You will also need to pass a physical, followed by a probationary period of 6 months.

You must complete the Firefighter I course through the fire academy, within 18 months of becoming a member or after turning 18. This training course consists of 192 hours – 4-hour night class twice a week, and an 8-hour class on a Saturday or Sunday

You must be 16 to join the company as a Junior Firefighter, 18+ for regular firefighters.

 You must live within three miles of the firehouse. You can also work within three miles if you are able to leave work to go to fire calls.

All necessary gear will be provided for you.

On average there are 1.5 calls a day, but they can come at any time.

You are not required to, but you can take a course and learn if you want to.

There are multiple courses, generally starting in January, February, June, and August.

FFI is a nationally recognized certification, credited in 38 states.
